VSTU HOLDS THE «FRIENDSHIP CUP» TOURNAMENT AMONG FOREIGN STUDENTS
From January 24 to 27, the traditional mini-football tournament among foreign students was held at the Voronezh State Technical University. Eight teams took part in it: National teams of Arab countries, Africa, Morocco, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Egypt. The preliminary games were held in two subgroups. The teams that took first and second places in their groups determined who would play for the tournament cup. The team of Tajikistan beat the team of Uzbekistan with a score of 6:1 and reached the final. Then the team of Turkmenistan and the team of Arab countries played. Students from Turkmenistan reached the final with a score of 4:3,.
On January 27, the team of students from Uzbekistan in the game for third place lost to the team of Arab countries with a great score of 2:14. In the final, the game was in favor of the team of Turkmenistan, which met with the team of Tajikistan, the score was 5:2. Thus, first place was taken by students from Turkmenistan, second place - from Tajikistan, third place - the team of Arab countries, fourth place - from Uzbekistan, fifth place - the African team, sixth place - from Egypt, seventh place - from Morocco, eigth place - from Bangladesh. The tournament was held in an atmosphere of friendship and respect for the opponent. Closing and awarding of winners and prize-winners was held by the chairman of the labour union organization of VSTU students A.M. Khodunov, vice-rector for youth policy and educational activities of VSTU A.V. Akopyan, Director of the Institute of International Education V.V. Budko.
