On January 24, 2018 representatives of Voronezh State Technical University met water service specialists supervising the company’s personnel policy at Rosvodokanal Voronezh. One of the main theme discussed during the meeting was strengthening the cooperation between the flagship university and Voronezh water service company in the area of alumni employment

“Each of us is doing a very important job. The university trains technical specialists to work in the housing and utilities sector, and you provide our alumni with career opportunities and give them confidence in their future. That’s why this discussion and close cooperation is so important for both of us,” said Aleksandr Kolosov, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Systems and Structures of Voronezh State Technical University.

Deans of the field-specific faculties and heads of the university’s departments gathered at a round table alongside with Rosvodokanal’s top managers Elena Sarycheva, the personnel director, and the production service director Dmitri Dedov (an alumnus of the Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, later reorganized into the flagship university).  They were joined by representatives of the company’s personnel department and young employees, members of The Council of Young Specialists – social movement active in Rosvodokanal Voronezh since 2012.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the company’s involvement into development of the university’s curricula, manufacturing and pre-diploma trainings for students, possible training for Rosvodokanal’s employees within the university’s education programmes, joint sport and cultural activities etc. “We haven’t had a meeting on such a level and with so many participants in more than 30 years. It gives confidence that the agreements reached here will work,” – said Viktor Babkin, Head of the Department of Hydraulics and Water Supply and Disposal.

The necessity of such a meeting has been long evident. The average age of Rosvodokanal’s employees has exceeded 45 which clearly indicates that the company needs young and highly qualified professionals and is interested in increasing the prestige of blue-collar jobs.

“We can provide students and alumni with workplaces that meet the current labor law standards and our engineers and technicians, who can be justifiably called the masters of their craft, are willing to share years of their professional experience with younger specialists. We have designed a specific induction programme for new employees which allows alumni to make a smooth transition from theoretical knowledge to practice.  We chose to rely on the young, energetic and enthusiastic, and that was the right decision,” – adds Elena Sarycheva, Rosvodokanal Voronezh’s personnel director.
