Voronezh State Technical University is gaining momentum in its development every year, improving its position in the rankings, increasing the number of students entering the university and expanding the territorial coverage of applicants. One of the most important events in the activities of the university this year was the grand opening of a new apartment-type hostel, which took place on September 2 on the campus on the street. 20 Letia Oktyabrya, 79b.
The solemn ceremony was attended by Vladimir Astanin, Chairman of the Council of the Union of Builders of the Voronezh Region, Sergey Sitnikov, Head of the Administration of the Leninsky District of the Urban District of Voronezh, Deputy of the Voronezh Regional Duma, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth Policy Kristina Kuleshova, Director of the construction company LLC «Bortmechanic» Maxim Krasyukov.
The rector of VSTU Dmitry Proskurin addressed the audience with a welcoming speech:
We have a wonderful celebration today! We have built a new hostel for three hundred spaces for our students, including families that our students and graduate students create when they study. Heartfelt thanks to the design organization, our general contractors! I want to wish the students who will live here that this comfortable place gives them the opportunity, first of all, to study well and receive high-quality knowledge. This building is the real gem of our campus. In the construction organization that erected it, almost all of them are our graduates. This is amazing! I would like this continuity to exist always, never broken. Housewarming! Live here, make friends, love, study, relax!
Vladimir Astanin noted that in his student years one could not even dream of such a hostel:
– A wonderful event today for the guys who came from other regions and cities to study at our university. I think that this is the most important moment and a huge incentive to be more successful and make your student life really interesting, bright, involving, so that you have everything that a modern student needs. Therefore, I wish you to always be warm and comfortable, so that everything is as it should be. Treat with care, responsibly and with gratitude for such a wonderful, necessary, meaningful gift for you and all of us.
The new hostel is a 15-storey building designed for 300 people. Its construction took place within the framework of national projects aimed at developing the sphere of science and education. The new facility on the campus of VSTU fully complies with the advanced standards of university campuses.
Students will live in modern studio apartments: with a kitchenette, shower room, bathroom, furniture and household equipment. Apartments are designed for two or three people. On the floors there are gyms, computer classes, rooms for ironing and cleaning clothes, rooms for students' collective work. The building has two evacuation stairs, two elevators with a capacity of 400 and 1000 kg. Self-service laundries, a doctor's office, a treatment room, a medical isolation room are also provided. The second floor is designed for people with limited mobility.
The architectural, compositional and stylistic solution of the new building is determined by modern principles of organizing the urban environment in specific urban conditions. On the territory of the campus there are also buildings of existing hostels, a canteen, a swimming pool with playgrounds for sports and recreational areas.
As part of the program to support student families, the new hostel has a floor for family students. The opening of a new hostel allows the transition to a single space in which there will be a place for the development of intellectual and creative potential, the generation and dissemination of new knowledge, as well as the creation of a youth environment that provides comfortable living, sports, entertainment and recreation.
Successful and talented students, active participants in the sports life of the country and the region, who have achieved high results in the scientific field, student activists, graduate students and interns who come to VSTU on exchange educational programs, as well as student families, have received the right to live in the new hostel.
Ekaterina Maslova, Chairman of the VSTU Student Council, on behalf of the students, thanked the designers, builders and university management for the wonderful gift for the new academic year and assured that living in such a hostel would have a positive impact on the results of educational, scientific and creative activities of young people.
At the end of the solemn ceremony, the participants cut the red ribbon and officially opened a new comfortable hostel. Then the rector of VSTU Dmitry Proskurin handed over the keys to the first new settlers.
