On 22 March students and teachers of Voronezh Flagship University celebrated Nowruz – solar New Year that is celebrated by Iranian and Turkish people. The first vice-rector of VSTU S.V.Safonov, vice-rector for student affairs A.M. Khodunov and the head of The Turkmen Culture Society in the Voronezh region M.B. Redzhepov welcomed and congratulated all present. On that day students from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan performed national dances and songs. Guests of the event got the chance to familiarize themselves with traditions, creative activities of other countries and tasted delicious oriental dishes.

In addition, according to a solar calendar, which is officially used in Afghanistan and Iran, Nowruz is the first day of the coming New Year, which symbolizes the renewal of man and nature, the awakening of the ground after cold weather.
